1. What are the criteria for a qualification to be placed on the NRQ? |
In order to be placed on the National Register of Qualifications, Omani Qualifications must be Listed on the Oman Qualifications Framework (OQF) and Foreign/ International Qualifications must be Aligned to the OQF. Listing/Alignment is a process of evaluation, carried out by the Listing Bodies, to ensure that the Listing/Alignment Criteria are met. These are that the qualification has:
• A Programme License from the relevant Licensing Body
• Clear Learning Outcomes, which are subject to Summative Assessment
• Quality assurance measures in place. |
2. Will qualifications that are no longer awarded be placed on the NRQ? |
Qualifications that are no longer awarded, but are still relevant to the labour market in Oman, may be Listed on/Aligned to the OQF but they will not be placed on the NRQ. Such qualifications are those that have been superseded or discontinued by the Awarding Body or Education/Training Provider. |
3. Are Foreign and International Qualifications placed on the NRQ? |
The NRQ provides an official online record of Foreign and International Qualifications Aligned to the OQF. Aligned Qualifications are placed on the Alignment Section of the NRQ. |
4. Will short courses be placed on the NRQ? |
Employers, Awarding Bodies and Education/Training Providers can apply to have their short courses Listed on the OQF and placed on the NRQ provided that the Short Course meets the OQF Criteria for Listing and has a minimum of ten OQF Credit Points, which equates to 100 notional hours of learning. |
5. When will the usage of the NRQ begin? |
The NRQ will be used when the OQF is implemented. The launch of the OQF will include the launch of the NRQ. |
